Disconnected

February 7, 2007

Arggghh! I will be Internetless for the next few days, staying with family in an area with no broadband. I guess it is time to look into a wireless account, although it doesn’t happen frequently enough to warrant the cost. It is just a wierd feeling to be without the Intenet. One of the speakers at the conference I attended this week mentioned as a sidenote some of the things that people were willing to give up rather than give up their Internet for a day. Large majorities agreed to give up things like coffee for the day, or would prefer that their favorite sports team lose rather than lose a day of Internet access. I have to agree to both- although I would have to find a substitute that day for the coffee. It surely has become integrated into our lives rather than just a convenience. Predictions are that it will become even more so.

It is interesting and a little frightening how much we’ve come to rely on the internet. Hope you survive your few days away!

  2. I know I would get a lot more reading done if I didn’t spend so much time on the internet! Enjoy your trip.
